Manhunt on for prisoner escapee in Pangasinan

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, July 5 — A municipal prisoner escaped from his cell at the Lingayen police station on Saturday morning after weeks of detention.

Police Supt Harris R Fama, town police chief, said the escapee is Ronie Cabusurra of Barangay Libsong of this town who escaped at around 7:30 in the morning.

"Initial investigation showed that Cabusurra managed to open the door lock of his cell with an improvised devise as evidenced by several markings in the lock pad.

Fama said the escapee was awaiting trial for his case of carnapping a motorcycle before the Municipal Trial Court.

A trackers team was immediately dispatched to re-arrest the escapee.

At the same time, the mother and relatives of Cabusurra expressed their willingness to assist in capturing the escapee so that he can face his trial in court.

Meanwhile, Fama said the responsible police officers on duty at the time of the escape will face administrative case for negligence in accordance with the existing PNP rules and procedures.

Mayor Jonas Castaneda instantly approved the request of the Chief of Police Fama for the construction of a second steel gate at the town jail to avoid future escape of detention prisoner. (PNA)
