BUTUAN CITY, July 5 – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) condemned “in highest degree” the attack on innocent civilians in Mindanao as they vowed to capture the perpetrators in Cotabato City blast Sunday morning.

Lt. Gen. Raymundo B. Ferrer, area command chief of the AFP’s Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMincom) ordered all field unit commanders in Central Mindanao to help the Philippine National Police in getting the suspects at “all cost”.

“The bomb attack is condemnable,” said Ferrer.

“While we are saddened by the death and wounding of innocent civilians, our desire to capture the perpetrators are strengthened even more,” said Ferrer in a statement.

He said, “these terrorists will not succeed in derailing the peace efforts of the government”.

Ferrer also urged Mindanaoans to unite and help the government in putting an end to what he described as “diabolical and demonic acts”.

“They (terrorists) will not succeed in derailing our peace efforts. We will unite in putting an end to terrorism, added Ferrer.

As of press time, combined forces of the government were still determining the identities and motive of the perpetrators.
