MANILA, June 9 – Maynilad Water Services Inc. (Maynilad), the West Zone water service concessionaire, will soon operate in Muntinlupa City the country's first large-scale membrane filtration plant.

This low-maintenance, energy-efficient water treatment system will begin producing safe, affordable and reliable water by 2010 to benefit about 105,000 households in the area.

Maynilad president Rogelio L. Singson said the plant can produce 100 million liters of water per day.

Singson said this facility can also expand its water production capacity to meet future additional demand for water.

Filtration, separation and purification global leader Pall will provide the water treatment technology for this milestone project.

Maynilad currently serves 6.4 million customers out of 8.9 million people in the West Zone.

With its continuing service improvement and water supply development projects, Maynilad targets to provide more households with 24-hour coverage of water service at seven pounds per square inch. (PNA) LDV/CJT/PR
