Typhoon 'Emong' now battering Pangasinan

DAGUPAN CITY, May 7 — Workers from government and private offices went home early today as Western Pangasinan is now is now under the impact of typhoon signal number 3, along with the provinces of Zambales and La Union.

Dagupan and the rest of the province remain under typhoon signal number 2 as of 5 p.m. Thursday but winds unleashed by typhoon “Emong” are now getting stronger.

Electricity was out in Dagupan at past 4 p.m. although it was restored after less than 10 minutes.

But officials are worried as Dagupan and central Pangasinan are getting their supply from the power station in Barangay Cadampat, Labrador operated by the National Transmission Corporation.

Labrador is located in the western part of the province which is now being pummeled by strong winds of typhoon “Emong”.

Dagupan Electric Corporation operations manager Augusto Sarmiento has alerted his crew to be on standby so they can immediately restore and clear lines that may toppled down as a result of the typhoon. (PNA)
