150223190004These 43 Filipino fishermen arrived 5:30 a.m. Monday (Feb 23, 2015) after almost 6 months of detention in Indonesia and hold a media briefing at the Max restaurant in Ermita, Manila. They are asking compensation from their employer — General Santos City-based fishing firm Citra Mina — which allegedly abandoned them after Indonesian authorities arrested them last August 26, 2014 for illegal fishing. The DFA said their early repatriation was hampered by lack of documents such as passports. The tuna exporting giant is facing a congressional probe on March 18 due to alleged labor violations.
