161004201404The Social Security System (SSS) accorded a special citation for the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for its solid commitment to provide social protection to nearly 75,000 job order (JO) and contractual workers at the Balikat ng Bayan Awards held during the SSS 59th anniversary program at the Ramon Magsaysay Hall of the SSS main office in Diliman, Quezon City. In its pursuit of excellence in local governance, DILG serves as a good example in providing its civil servants, particularly JO and contractual workers, much-needed social security protection by signing a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with SSS and ensuring the compliance of local government units with the MOA. As a result, thousands of JOs and contractual employees from DILG are currently registered as active SSS members with contributions amounting to over PHP240 million.
