CAIRO, May 9 — At least 45 people were wounded early Monday in a fire in downtown Cairo, state-run MENA news agency reported.

The injured, who suffered suffocation in the blaze that swept through the Attaba market and several buildings nearby, including a six-story hotel, were listed in stable condition, MENA quoted Health Ministry sources as saying.

It was not immediately clear what caused the fire. (PNA/Xinhua)
