PSEi extends gains to fifth straight day

MANILA, April 13 — Local share prices extended gains into a fifth day above 7,300-mark on Wednesday, aided by oil market rebound.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) advanced 34.44 points to 7,341 from previous day’s 7,306.56 finish.

Oil prices soared above USD 42 a barrel overnight on hopes an oil output freeze agreement could be reached in Doha, Qatar at April 17 meeting.

At home, all counters rose slightly.

Value turnover reached Php7.70 billion after 1.57 billion shares changed hands.

Decliners almost equaled advancers, 95 to 94, while 52 issues unchanged.

The day’s top active stocks were led by SM Investments Corp., Universal Robina Corp., Metro Pacific Investments Corp., Ayala Land Inc. and SM Prime Holdings Inc. (PNA)
