Floor heats up as first competition in rhythmic gymnastics for secondary begins

LEGAZPI CITY, April 13 (PNA) — The first competition for rhythmic gymnastics with the rope and club apparatus in the secondary level began on Wednesday in Hotel St. Ellis here.

Fifty-four gymnasts from different regions flaunted their dexterity as they showed off their skills, flexibility, and precision in their routine moves for the first two categories in rhythmic gymnastics.

The contest started with Region 11 as the first performers for the rope and Region IV-B as the first competitors in club, and ended with the performances from Region 8 and Region 3.

The top eight qualifiers for rope are Rayma Bermejo and Jhazelle Lemenzon of the National Capital Region, Shaira Guevara and Helena Secillano of Region V, Jubaile Reyes of Region IV-A, Marianne Alegado of Region VII and Jerrmela Solivio of Region XII.

While for the club, Lemenzon and Bermejo of NCR are still in, with Flezarha Pateña of IV-A, Eunice Odag of Region VII, Katrina Loretizo and Danielle Jamelo of NIR, and Francess Ramirez and Helena Secillano of Region V.

On Thursday will be the second competition in rhythmic gymnastics for the secondary level in the Ball and Hoop Category where the judges will also pick the top eight.

The top eight qualifiers for apparatus finals will compete on Friday afternoon, also at the Hotel St. Ellis. (PNA)
