TOKYO, Feb. 2 — The Japanese government will extend the validity of multiple-entry visas for businessmen, academics and artists from Vietnam and India to 10 years from the current five years, Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida said Tuesday.

The easing of visa rules, effective from Feb. 15, is part of the government's drive to increase the number of foreign tourists to Japan, as well as people-to-people exchanges, the Foreign Ministry said.

The 10-year validity of multiple-entry visas is the longest issued by the Japanese government, the ministry said.(PNA/Kyodo)
