MANILA, Jan. 11 — A private gun owners group on Monday filed a petition before the Supreme Court (SC) seeking to allow them to carry their respective guns during the election gun ban which took effect on Sunday.

The Gun Owners in Action (GOAct) filed their 44-page petition before the SC on Monday with their legal counsel Atty. Rodrigo Moreno.

In their petition, they asked the SC to order the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to allow them to apply and accept their application for exemption in the implementation of the election gun ban.

They also urged the SC to issue a "status quo ante order" to protect their right under the law.

"We are seeking that all private citizens with PTCF (permit to carry firearm) to be exempted from the gun ban imposed by the Comelec on the grounds under RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act)," Moreno said. (PNA)
