ILOILO CITY, Dec. 1 — The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) and its Police Station 1 were commended Tuesday by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) for the arrest of a member of Dumaguete-based robbery group over the weekend.

City councilor Joshua Alim, chair of the committee on police matters, said that the city cops “can do more, not only that but in other illegal activities.”

“They deserve to be commended for the operations well done,” Alim said.

Arrested was 27-year-old Jemar Halasan of Barangay Banilad, Dumaguete City, a member of the Salimbagat robbery group that allegedly targets small businesses.

His group allegedly slipped into the city last week and stayed in a resort in Arevalo district. The other members of the group, however, were able to escape following the arrest of Halasan. (PNA)
