BORACAY ISLAND, Aklan, Dec 1 — A new paging machine will be installed at Cagban Port here in time for the peak season in the tourist island.

Niven Maquirang, Aklan Jetty Port Manager, said the technology will provide better service to tourists as well as locals.

Currently, only the Caticlan Port in mainland Malay has a paging machine.

Maquirang said they are continuously upgrading the facilities of both ports in support of Boracay’s ever growing tourism industry and in preparation for the influx of tourists for the upcoming holidays.

The Caticlan port also has 10 closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras while Cagban port has eight.

Meanwhile, Maquirang said a new terminal building will be constructed at Caticlan Port.

“It will be constructed in a 2.6 hectare property adjacent the existing port,” Maquirang said.

Construction will start next year.

The building is expected to accommodate up to 6,000 passengers.

Maquirang said at least 3,000 passengers use the Caticlan port daily, way higher than its capacity of only 1,000 passengers.(PNA)
