MOSCOW, Oct. 28 — The Skolkovo Innovation Center, which opened in 2010, is often labeled Russia’s "Silicon Valley" and is aimed to lead the country’s drive to diversify and modernize its economy and increase the country's output of high-tech products.

The openness of Russia's Skolkovo Innovation Center to international trends is the main precondition for its success, the president of the Skolkovo Foundation, the principle agency responsible for the center, said Wednesday.

"Openness, transparency, global outlook are the key elements of our success today. Under no circumstances can we close, isolate ourselves or counter the global market and trends, global approaches," Viktor Vekselberg said at the Open Innovations Forum in Moscow.

He added that over a third of Skolkovo experts were leading international specialists whose opinion is taken into account.
