KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 28 — Malaysians will get to enjoy 10 cinematic masterpieces encompassing various genres from Latin America during the 14th Latin American Film Festival (LAFF) scheduled from November 11-19.

The festival which will be held at the Malaysia Tourism Center (Matic) in Jalan Ampang here, the festival will include award-winning films from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Mexico's ambassador to Malaysia, Carlos Felix Corona, said the film festival aims to promote the diverse Latin American cultures to the Malaysian public.

"It's a great opportunity for our Malaysian friends to learn about our countries through cinema…movies are connecting people," he said after a meeting with Bernama Editor-in-Chief Datuk Zakaria Abd Wahab at Wisma Bernama on Wednesday.

Also in his entourage were Argentina's envoy Maria Isabel Rendon and Colombian ambassador Victor H. Echeverri Jaramillo.

He said admission for the film festival was free and all the films would have English subtitles.

The films to be featured include Argentina's 'El Hombre De Al Lado' (The Man Next Door) which tells about a conflict between two neighbors; Chile's 'Vacaciones En Familia' (Family Vacation), a comedy about a family of high family expectations; and Cuba's 'El Premio Flaco' (The Thin Prize), a tale about a former clown in a travelling circus who wins a new house.
