SANTA CRUZ, Laguna, Oct. 20 — Two Liberal Party (LP) candidates will run unopposed in the first congressional district of Laguna and the lone district of the City of Biñan in 2016 elections.

In a report released by provincial election supervisor Dioscoro Pahutan, incumbent Santa Rosa City mayor Arlene Arcillas filed her certificate of candidacy (CoC) for first district congressional seat.

Arcillas agreed to exchange places with incumbent Rep. Dan Fernandez (First District) who filed his CoC for mayoralty seat.

On the other hand, incumbent Biñan City mayor Len Len Alonte was the only candidate for the lone district of Biñan.

With the addition of the lone district of Biñan, Laguna has now five congressional districts.

At the municipal level, four of Laguna's 24 municipalities and six cities will also have one candidate each.

They are incumbent mayors Bruno Ramos in Bay, Eric Sulibit in Liliw, David Aventurado in Magdalena and former mayor Antonio ‘Tony” Carolino in Santa Maria. (PNA)
