ILOILO CITY, Oct. 20 –- One hundred sixteen new dengue cases were monitored by the Provincial Health Office of Iloilo in its 27 out of the 42 municipalities and one component city from October 5 to 10 (40th Morbidity Week).

The five areas with most number of dengue cases are Passi City, a component city of the province, with 26 cases; followed by Tigbauan with 19; Guimbal, 14; Miag-ao, 13; and, Calinog with six. The other municipalities reported three cases to one case each.

According to the PHO, the number of dengue cases is on the downtrend in the province because of the continuous dengue information campaign and the cleanup drive in the barangay.

Bongol San Vicente in Guimbal, San Julian in Janiuay, Palaca in Miag-ao, Poblacion Ilaya of Passi City and Brgy. Buyuan of Tigbauan are being closely monitored. Towns with clustering of cases are those which have dengue cases reported within four consecutive morbidity weeks. (PNA)
