Gorricetas vow to support LP's vice gubernatorial candidate

ILOILO CITY, Oct. 20 –- Iloilo Second District Cong. Arcadio H. Gorriceta and his son, Pavia Municipal Mayor Michael Gorriceta have both expressed support to the Liberal Party’s (LP’s) official candidate for vice governor this coming 2016 poll.

Cong. Gorriceta contended that just like Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr., he will “toe party lines” by supporting the LP’s official candidate for vice governor.

This was also echoed by Mayor Gorriceta last Monday during a media interview where he said he would support whoever was the LP’s official candidate.

He said this in spite of the fact that the mayor’s wife was a close relative of the Garins.

The vice gubernatorial election in Iloilo is a heated one-on-one race between the Tupas and the Garin political clans who both formerly belonged to the LP.

However, outgoing Iloilo fifth district Cong. Niel Tupas Jr. had successfully secured LP’s nomination for him to run as vice governor in the forthcoming election, giving Guimbal Mayor Christine Garin, daughter of LP stalwart former Iloilo first district Congressman Oscar Garin, Sr., no choice but to run under the National Unity Party, which is also an ally of the administration party.(PNA)
