ZAMBOANGA CITY, Oct. 20 -– The Department of Science and Technology-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) is conducting a one-day stakeholders’ forum to craft the 2016-2020 FNRI Research and Development (R&D) Agenda on Food and Nutrition in this city.

Brenda Nazareth-Manzano, DOST regional director, said Tuesday the forum is scheduled to be held on Thursday at a local hotel which will be attended by top leaders of government and non-government organizations as well as partner industries.

Manzano said the forum seeks to generate ideas, insights and perspectives of “our stakeholders towards the development of the 2016-2020 FNRI R&D Agenda in food and nutrition".

The R&D agenda aims to stimulate research and the development of innovative interventions to meet the challenges of existing nutrition problems.

Manzano said the forum is anchored on the theme “Responding to the Needs of every Juan and Juana for Improved Quality of Life.”

She said that FNRI team from Manila headed by its Director, Dr. Mario Capanzana, will serve as resource speakers and facilitators of the forum.

FNRI is an attached agency of the DOST, mandated to undertake research that defines the citizenry's nutritional status, with reference particularly to the malnutrition problem, its causes and effects and identify alternative solutions for them. (PNA)
