MANILA, Aug. 31 — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) collected on Monday a total of 11 truckloads of garbage left by Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) members during their four-day protest actions in EDSA corner Shaw Blvd. in Mandaluyong City.

Francis Martinez, head of the MMDA’s Metro Parkway Clearing Group, said the collected garbage comprised mostly of Styrofoams, plastic bottles, food wrappers and other food containers.

Martinez said the MMDA deployed some 250 cleaners, including street sweepers, to clear up and sanitize the Ortigas up to Crossing area, as well as the northbound and southbound lanes of EDSA up to Shaw Blvd.

Crisanto Saruca, MMDA's Traffic Discipline Office (TDO) head, said EDSA was cleared of protesters Monday noon. (PNA)
