DAGUPAN CITY, July 27 –Political observers here believe that a part of the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Benigno Aquino III was a rebuke to Vice President Jejomar Binay who was among those in the seats reserved for Very Important Persons (VIPs) along with other dignitaries.

This was the feeling of Oliver Silvestre, a businessman, who said the President thanked all his cabinet members and all those who worked to make his administration succeed except Binay who once worked under the President as housing secretary.

Incidentally, VP Binay has also indicated he will also deliver his own SONA before his followers and the media.

"The president failed to thank VP Binay as former cabinet secretary for housing, said Silvestre, noting that Binay resigned from the cabinet only few months ago and has since became a critic of the administration.

Meanwhile, Jun Sto. Domingo, also a businessman, said the proposal of President Aquino to endorse the Anti-Dynasty Bill was an indirect rebuke on the Binays who have members of their family elected to different positions in the government.

He said the Binays are in the executive departments, two houses of Congress as well as in the Local Government. All of them attended the SONA of the President.

Herminio Crisostomo, a student, said when the President mentioned that he would not aspire for a longer term and his six-year term was enough, it was an indirect criticism to the proposal of VP Binay for elective officials to run in office as long as the people want them and in the case of the President and Vice President, from six years to "sawa" (infinity).
