BACOLOD CITY, July 13 — Teachers and coaches from different public schools in Negros Occidental attended a three-day training-seminar on coaching of the different sports events until Sunday.

The training-seminar, organized by the Department of Education-Division of Negros Occidental in collaboration with the Province of Negros Occidental and the Philippine Sports Commission, was held at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center here.

Topics were on archery, arnis, athletics, badminton, basketball, billiard, boxing, chess, football, futsal, gymnastics, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, wrestling, and wushu.

“The training is very important considering that Negros Occidental will play in next year’s Palarong Pambansa already representing the Negros Island Region,” said Provincial Sports Coordinator Angel Verdeflor.

Verdeflor urged participants to seek wisdom and strength from God, and aim for the top honor in every competition.

“Governor Marañon has always been supportive of the Negrense athletes,” he added.

Verdeflor said that several Negrense athletes who are products of the Negros First Sports Program have won medals in international competitions, including the just-concluded Southeast Asian Games, especially in boxing and taekwondo.(PNA)
