Zambo fire victims receive cash assistance

ZAMBOANGA CITY, June 24 — The local government on Tuesday afternoon released PHP226,500 cash assistance to the victims of four separate fire incidents that hit this city last month.

Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said 67 families received the cash assistance in an informal ceremony at City Hall.

Salazar said 24 of the 67 affected families, who are house owners and whose houses were razed, received PHP5,000 financial aid each.

Salazar said 28 families whose house were partially destroyed received PHP3,000 each while 15 house renters with totally damaged properties got PHP1,500 cash aid each.

Records of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) showed the beneficiaries are victims of separate fire incidents that hit the following barangays: San Roque, May 4; Patalon, May 20; Tulungatung, May 21; and San Jose–Cawa-Cawa, May 31.

CSWDO records showed that 48 of the beneficiaries are from Barangay San Roque; 16 from San Jose–Cawa-Cawa; two from Tulungatung; and one, Patalon.

Salazar said the financial assistance is aimed to help alleviate the plight of the fire victims. (PNA)
