Number of tourists visiting Albania to increase in 2015

TIRANA, June 23 — Sadik Malaj, chairman of the Union of Albanian Tour Operators, said on Monday that the geography of tourists has changed in Albania, yet ethnic Albanians continue to dominate with 75 percent of overall inflows.

According to him, an increase in the number of tourists is expected in 2015, but a slight increase of 2 percent, due to the local elections on June that could affect the number of tourists, although thankfully election situation has been calm up far.

As far as tourists from different EU countries, they account for about 25 percent of inflows where most come for excursion purposes, brief tours or activities.

Malaj said the geography of tourists has increased so much today, that people hardly can find a foreign country having not a flow of tourists in Albania.

According to Malaj, tourists from Asian countries also has increased in 2015.

"But there is a growing presence mainly in the last two years of tourists from Central Europe, mainly Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia," said Malaj. (PNA/Xinhua)
