CEBU CITY, June 23 — The Cebu Port Authority (CPA) is set to inaugurate on June 26, Friday, the PHP50-million passenger Terminal 2 in Cebu City’s Pier 3.

CPA general manager Edmund Tan said the new terminal will decongest passenger traffic in Terminal 1 in Pier 1.

Passenger Terminal 1, which also cost PHP 50 million to build, was inaugurated last year by Transportation and Communication Secretary Antonio Abaya.

Terminal 2, just like Terminal 1, also has modern facilities, said Tan.

Terminal 2 will cater to all fast-craft shipping companies.

There are eight fast-craft companies operating in Cebu which are berthing in different piers.

He said that with Terminal 2, if a passenger will hire a taxi to take a fast-craft, the driver already knows where to drop him.

Tan said the two passenger terminals are fully air-conditioned, with gender-sensitive facilities such as diaper-changing stations, breastfeeding rooms, meditation rooms and first aid station or clinic with a standby nurse.

Tan said both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 have security screening, X-ray scanners for baggage and walk-thru metal detectors for passengers.

He said the terminal fee is waived for senior citizens, persons with disabilities and children below 12 years old. (PNA)
