HANOI, June 9 — Vietnamese labors before traveling overseas will be informed and warned about the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) coronavirus, said the Department of Overseas Labor under Vietnam's Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs on Tuesday.

Accordingly, companies and organizations which send labors to work overseas must keep updated with situation of labors in the virus-hit areas so that they can promptly inform relevant agencies for necessary support to infected or suspected cases, local VNExpress online newspaper quoted the department as saying on Tuesday.

"The MERS-affected countries have given no warning towards foreign labors. So Vietnamese workers can continue traveling to those countries after being informed and warned about the disease, " Pham Viet Huong, deputy head of the department said on VNExpress.

Currently, the MERS epidemic is breaking out in many countries, especially in South Korea and in the Middle East, which are among major markets for Vietnamese labors. (PNA/Xinhua)
