LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, June 9 — The provincial board of Pangasinan sought to know the plans and programs of the Department of Agriculture (DA) in the province.

Thus, it passed provincial resolution no. 1369-2015 inviting the officer-in-charge Regional Executive Director Valentino Perdido, DA-Regional Field Office 1, to appear before the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) during its regular session on June 15 to update the august body on the new plans and programs of the agency.

Authored by Board Member Antonio Sison, the resolution noted that Pangasinan is mainly an agricultural area, with farming and fishing predominantly considered the main sources of livelihood of its people.

"The SP would like to be apprised on the new plans and programs being implemented by the agency towards promoting agricultural development and production," he added.

DA is the principal agency that helps and empowers the the farming and fishing communities to produce enough, accessible, affordable food for everyone

Thus, "The presence of the DA during the Session would go a long way to help the SP come up with legislative measures to support the designed plans and programs of the agency in helping farmers and fisherfolk of the province and their organization achieve a better production and sale of their produce," the resolution stated.
