SEOUL, Republic of Korea, June 9 — The ASEAN-Korea Center (Secretary General Kim Young-sun) will participate in the "30th Korea World Travel Fair (KOTFA 2015)" from June 11 to 14 at the COEX Convention Center in Seoul to promote major tourist attractions of the 10 ASEAN member states — Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

At the Fair, the Center will set up an ASEAN-Korea Center booth under the theme of ‘Rediscovery of ASEAN’, to newly introduce tourist attractions of ASEAN which are not yet well-known to the Korean public.

At the booth, the Center will distribute ASEAN tourism guide books and various promotional materials, operate an ASEAN Culture and Tourism Library which will exhibit various traditional handicraft items and design goods of each member state, and also show cultural videos.

In addition, activity zones such as ASEAN Photo Zone, ASEAN Quiz and Event Corner will be operated.

ASEAN is the number one travel destination for Koreans. In 2014, out of a total of 16 million Korean outbound travelers, 5 million visited the ASEAN region.

The Center expects the ASEAN-Korea Center booth to attract much interest from visitors of KOTFA as it will house tourism information on all of the 10 ASEAN member states.

The Center’s participation in KOTFA is expected to provide an opportunity for the general public to discover ASEAN’s hidden tourism gems and also share the latest travel information, thereby contribute to further invigorating tourism exchanges among ASEAN member states and Korea and also enhance the image of ASEAN tourism.

Meanwhile, H.E. Kim Young-sun, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Center will join the opening ceremony of KOTFA 2015 on June 11 with other VIP guests to congratulate the kick-off of the event. (PNA)
