Town in Misamis Oriental becomes a tourist destination

,OPOL, Misamis Oriental, May 19 – This fishing village of Opol, is becoming a tourist hub in Misamis Oriental, said town Mayor Max Seno on Tuesday.

,“No less than Sen. Allan Peter Cayetano has recognized that Opol would become the future tourist destination in Misamis Oriental,” Seno said.

,Cayetano was here last Saturday to turn over Php 150,000 as an initial livelihood program for a local drivers’ association here last Saturday.

,Cayetano promised to extend additional financial assistance to the drivers’ association after six months if the initial seed capital would improve, Seno said.

,He said that the Senator also pledged to allocate a total of Php50 million for the construction of five covered courts for five villages here before the elections in 2016.

,“Sen. Cayetano has recognized Opol as the “tourism hub” in Misamis Oriental as the town continues to grow in the past years following the entry of some of the country’s big investors this year,” Seno said.

,He said that the Senator is aware that the Ayala Corporation, the A. Brown Compay along with other local investors has already sent emissaries for the possible expansion in Opol.

,Seno said that a local investor started late last year the construction of the Php 200 million theme park project in the coastal town of Opol.

,Opol is a town in Misamis Oriental about 15 kilometers west of the capital city of Cagayan De Oro and about eight kilometers east of Mismais Oriental’s Laguindingan airport. PNA)
