PNP hold pre-election conference

MANILA, May 20 – The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday held a pre-election conference among senior PNP Officials held in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Police Deputy Director General Marcelo Garbo Jr., Deputy Chief PNP for Operations led the conferees on Monday to ensure the early activation of election duties of the PNP.

Garbo discussed matters of election with PNP Directorate for Intelligence, Directorate for Operations, Directorate for Investigative and Detective Management, Directorate for Comptrollership, Directorate for Personnel and Resource Management and Chief of the Public Information Office.

PNP planned to provide intensified election security and maximum deployment of PNP personnel and even office personnel during the election period to ensure protection and safety personnel involved.

Garbo stresses vigorous collaboration with the Armed Force of the Philippines through joint activities such as the extensive utilization of the Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Center (JPSCC), in order to address a wide range of security and law enforcement issues and the deployment of joint security assistance desks in all polling centers nationwide.

Special Operations Task Groups (SOTGs) will also be activated at the regional level to address PAGs and other high profile targets; and identification, validation and assessment of possible Election Watchlist Areas (EWAs) as a tool in mission planning.

Key officials also discussed other factors that may hinder peace and order during next year’s election and other concerns such as police-community partnership, operations against loose firearms, Private Armed Groups (PAGs), criminal gangs and other threat groups.
