BACOLOD CITY, May 11 — The Central Negros Electric Cooperative Inc. (CENECO) is calling for proposals for the development of mini hydro plant in areas in Negros Occidental where it has water rights.

CENECO has water rights in Maragandang and Kipot (Bantolinao) rivers in Bago City.

The call for proposals from groups, companies, and individuals is pursuant to Board Resolution No. 10905 Series of 2014. Deadline for submission is May 29, 2015.

Chuchie Destriza, officer in charge-general manager of CENECO, said in a statement Monday that the National Water Resources Council (NWRC) has already issued water permits to CENECO.

The electric cooperative seeks to convert its water rights for the exploration and utilization of Maragandang and Bantolinao rivers into renewable energy.

CENECO also informed the Department of Energy (DOE) of its intention to use its water rights in these areas.

The electric cooperative’s coverage area includes the cities of Bacolod, Bago, Talisay and Silay, and the municipalities of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto. (PNA)
