Main event for Pistay Dayat set on May 1

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, April 29 – The main event of the Pangasinan Pistay Dayat (Sea Festival) 2015 will be held on May 1 with the program and awarding ceremonies to be held at Barangay Banaga in Bugallon, Pangasinan.

The event will start with a Thanksgiving Mass to be officiated by Rev. Fr. Manuel S. Bravo at the Lingayen Capitol Beachfront at 7:30 a.m.

The Banca Parada (Fluvial Parade) will follow at 9:30 a.m. which will start from Sitio Bantayan in Barangay Pangapisan North en route to Barangay Banaga.

Over a hundred bancas artistically adorned with indigenous materials are expected to traverse the waters of the Agno River Bank towards spot under the Bañaga bridge where the formal ceremonies will be held.

University of the Philippines Vice-President for Public Affairs Dr. J. Prospero “Popoy” E. de Vera III, who is the 2014 ASNA Awardee for Education, will grace the program and awarding ceremonies as the guest of honor and speaker.

Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. will lead the presentation of awards to the winners in the Search for the Cleanest, Greenest and Safest LGUs and the winning banca for the Banca Parada during the awarding ceremonies. He will be assisted by Vice-Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim, Jr., Leduina Co and De Vera.

The GMA Kapuso artists will also be on hand to provide entertainment and add fun and excitement to the celebration.

Capping the event is a boodle fight of eating simultaneously with bare hand for all the participants. (PNA)
