4,100 kgs of milkfish to be grilled in Dagupan Bangusan Street Party

DAGUPAN CITY, April 29 (PNA) — Some 4, 100 kilograms of bangus (milkfish) will be grilled in the Street Party known as ‘Kalutan ed Dalan’, the penultimate event of the annual Bangus Festival on Thursday (April 30) starting at 4 p.m.

Edwin Aguirre, event chairman and member of the executive committee, said at least 800 grills will be spread in the street party, 100 grills more than the original number.

“We opened 100 more grills and it was again sold out”, said Aguirre.

Each grill costs Php 2, 800 inclusive of 25 pieces of milkfish, six 1.5 liter of Coke, one pack of hotdogs, aluminum foil, charcoal, match and apron.

Close to one million people are expected to flock along the whole stretch of the Jose R. De Venecia Expressway for this event, once dubbed by the Department of Tourism (DOT) as one of the biggest street parties in the Philippines.

Aguirre said eight stages were set along the De Venecia Expressway Extension where artists like ' Parokya ni Edgar', 'Spongecola, Join the Club and Disc Jockeys will perform.

Meanwhile, the Dagupan City Police Station (DCPS) is all set to implement its security plan during the street party.

Supt. Christopher Abrahano, chief of said augmentation forces from Special Action Force (SAF) and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) from the Pangasinan police provincial office (PPPO) arrived in the city to help maintain peace and order and secure the city during the festivity.

Abrahano said security control point with medical teams will be set in each of the stages while policemen will also be visible in the entry and exit points. (PNA)
