Different international recipes out of Dagupan Bangus savored

DAGUPAN CITY, April 28 –Visitors, balikbayans and local folks savored for free the different international recipes prepared out of the tasty Dagupan bangus during the Bangus International Cuisine Showcase, or bangusine, held at the city plaza here on Monday.

The crowd became even more excited when GMA Kapuso star Camille Pratts appeared and cooked her own favorite dish – the Dagupan bangus belly steak as a special event.

At least eight universities and colleges; three groups from the Indian community, Japan and Korea; and a restaurant joined this year’s Bangusine.

The participants were the Philippine College of Science and Technology (PCST), University of Luzon (UL), Divine Word Academy of Dagupan (DWAD), Collegio De Dagupan (CDD), Pangasinan State University (PSU)-Binmaley, Senior Tesoro Culinary School, Lyceum Northwestern University, and University of Pangasinan (UPang).

The groups were the Indian Community, the Nippon Skilled Volunteers Association (NISVA) of Japan and the Raon Atti of Korea under Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Pangasinan.

Nena’s Garden also took part in the cookfest.

The participants cooked the Dagupan bangus the way other countries like Thailand, Bangladesh, Rome, Greece, Romania, India, China, France, Singapore, Germany, Mexico, Malaysia, Morrocan, Italy, Japan, Vietnam, Great Britain, Cambodia, Spain and Korea cooked their own food.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez led the opening ceremony together with the major accounts manager of Unilever Philippines, Precious Diane Virriolo, City Legal Officer George Mejia and City Nutrition Officer and City Social Welfare and Development Officer In Charge Leah L. Aquino.

NISVA and Senor Divino Tesoro received a special award from Unilever Philippines for coming out with the tastiest dish out of Dagupan bangus and for having the best adorned booth. (PNA)
