PSA launches ASPBI, STEP 2014 in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY, April 22 (PNA) – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) held on Wednesday stakeholders’ forum about the agency’s Annual Survey on Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) and Survey on Tourism Establishments in the Philippines (STEP) 2014 stakeholder’s forum in this city.

After the forum, Ronaldo Taghap, PSA interim regional director, said they distributed copies of survey questionnaires to be answered by the participants of the forum within 10 days.

Taghap said among the questions the participants would answer include their line of business, revenue costs, and employment, which will be used to gauge the economy of the region.

Taghap said the ASPBI aims to gather and generate information on the level, structure, performance, and trends of economic activities of the formal sector of the economy in 2014.

He said data gathered through ASPBI will be used in constructing national and regional accounts of the Philippine economy.

He said the STEP is also needed to come up with a reliable statistics and indicators to measure the economic contribution of tourism, which can be useful in the formulation of programs and policies of the industry.

He said the results of the STEP will be used for assessing tourism resources, and available infrastructure of the sector. (PNA)
