Natural rubber exports decline 25% to 55,805 tonnes in Feb 2015

KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 — Malaysia's natural rubber (NR) exports in February 2015 dropped by 25 per cent to 55,805 tonnes from the corresponding month last year, the Statistics Department said.

In a statement today, the department said Standard Malaysian Rubber (SMR) contributed 94.1 per cent of the total NR exports.

The commodity was exported mainly to china (44.6 per cent) followed by Germany (14.4 per cent), the US (7.1 per cent), Iran (4.6 per cent), South Korea (2.9 per cent), brazil (4.1 per cent), Turkey (1.9 per cent), Finland (3.1 per cent), and portugal (1.7 per cent), it said.

Imports of NR in February 2015 increased by 2.5 per cent to 64,944 tonnes compared with 63,337 tonnes a year ago.

The production of NR rose by 1.4 per cent in February 2015 to 74,469 tonnes.

NR stocks eased 7.7 per cent to 206,388 tonnes from February 2014. (PNA/Bernama)
