ANGELES CITY, Pampanga, April 13 — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has cancelled the contract of the JQG Construction, the winning bidder of the Pandan-Magalang road rehabilitation project due to snail-paced works.

DPWH Secretary Rogelio “Babes” Singson confirmed this development in a text message to City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan.

"The contractor is already terminated and blacklisted. We will get a new contractor to finish work soonest,” Singson told Pamintuan.

The City Government of Angeles, on the other hand, is preparing to file a tort suit against JQG Construction for negligence and damages.

A tort suit is a civil case against an offender for negligence as well as for the damages suffered by the complainant or plaintiff.

City Hall is also looking at the unpaid situs tax of the JQG Construction amounting to around Php700,000.

The construction company is based in Tarlac City but is doing business in this city. (PNA)
