GENEVA, April 8 — Tennis veteran Martina Hingis, the five-time Grand Slam women's singles winner, has rejoined Swiss Fed Cup team after 17 years absence to help the squad qualify for Rio Olympics.

The 34-year-old Hingis, now a doubles specialist, has been picked for Switzerland's World Group playoff at Poland on April 18-19.

Hingis last played Fed Cup when Switzerland lost in the 1998 final against Spain.

This season, Hingis won the Australian Open mixed doubles with Leander Paes of India, and women's doubles at Indian Wells and Miami with Sania Mirza. (PNA/Xinhua)
