Thai airport to charge extra fee for screening travelers

BANGKOK, March 26 — Bangkok-based Suvarnabhumi airport will add an extra charge to tickets of passengers leaving Thailand for checking their personal and criminal records, local media reported Thursday.

Starting on Oct. 1, a new passenger-screening mechanism, known as the Advance Passenger Process System, which charge travelers an additional 35 baht (USD 1.07), according to Bangkok Post.

The system is part of the security measures to check travelers' information linking to databases of various state agencies of immigration, customs, drugs and security. (PNA/Xinhua)
