LEGAZPI CITY, March 17 (PNA) — The Vulcans or Team Albay won two gold medals and one silver medal on the first day of the Palarong Bicol 2015 in Pili, Camarines Sur, on Monday.

The regional athletic meet had its opening ceremonies on Sunday.

The medals were gained in the Long Jump and Shot Put Boys Secondary categories.

The gold medals were won by Avila Joemar of the San Agustin Integrated School in Libon town and Arjun Quiove of the Polangui General Comprehensive High School, Polangui.

John Ruel Sariola of the San Lorenzo Academy in Pioduran won the silver medal.

In separate statements of Dan Morillo, Department of Education Albay sports coordinator, and Jocelyn Castelo, DepEd-Albay Division spokesperson, said the Albay delegation has won more than the announced results of the Clerk of Course but the sports official would not divulged all.

Morillo and Castelo said they would just wait for the announcement of the sports Clerk of Course.

On the second day of the regional sports competition on Tuesday, they said, the athletes will compete for 22 games.

The Team Albay has a strong contender for each game.

Morillo said the Albay delegation members have a very high morale owing to the 100-percent support of the Provincial Government of Albay under Governor Joey Sarte Salceda, who they expect to pay them a surprise visit anytime.

He claimed that aside from the superiority of Albay in sports, Team Albay also holds the honor of Most Organized Delegation.

The team is now vying for the Most Disciplined and Eco Friendly Team.

Morillo said they thanked the officials of the Bula National High School and Bula Central Elementary School for their excellent accommodation of the team members.

He said he will offer their 10 stars for having the highest mark to these officials. (PNA)
