ILOILO CITY, March 16 -– The Regional Development Council (RDC) here has requested the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to brief the region’s highest policy making body about its anti-dangerous drug operations and enforcement activities.

The request was done amid the “recent occurrence of drug-related crimes in the region,” according to the RDC statement.

“The briefing is expected to solicit support and commitment from the local chief executives, heads of other national government agencies and the private sector leaders towards the eradication of the drug problem in the Western Visayas region,” the statement further stated.

The briefing is among the topics of interest that will be tackled during the March 20 regular quarterly meeting of the RDC that will be attended by provincial governors, mayors of highly urbanized cities and capital towns, presidents of the Leagues of Municipalities, regional line agencies and private sector representatives.
