Pangasinan cops attend seminar on social media strategies

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, March 9 — The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office under the leadership of Senior Supt. Reynaldo G. Biay, Officer-In-Charge, conducted a seminar-workshop on Monday, aimed at making the men and women of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office more knowledgeable in Social Media Strategies.

The program was attended by Police Community Relations Officer Police Non-Commissioned Officers and Computer Operators of different City and municipal police stations in the province of Pangasinan.

In that seminar, Supt. Ferdinand de Asis, Chief, police community relations office/ provincial information office emphasized that nowadays social media is one of the most important tools in informing the public by way of posting/uploading thru Facebook, YouTube and Twitter the different activities of every police serving the communities which aim to win the heart, support and thrust of everyone.

Meanwhile, Supt. Genaro Sapiera delivered his inspirational message and encouraged all participants to be more dedicated but to be vigilant in posting so that those people can easily understand what the Philippine National Police wants to inform and not to be criticized by the public.

Lecture proper was done by resource speaker Vangie DG. Padilla, chief communication strategist of Com Asia, Inc. who was the first Pangasinense who was invited at Google Headquarters in California, USA.

Her knowledge on Effective Social Media Strategy and Elements of Twitter and Facebook shared to the participants stressed the importance and relevance of posted activities.

She also emphasized that in posting it should be creative, clear and segments can be shared to anyone. After which, Ahikam Pasion, Commentator Action Radyo Pangasinan discussed how to upload videos to YouTube and link them with Facebook/Twitter and other topics pertaining to social media.

Highlight of the activity was when the participants were given a chance to create posts and view them as ideas, which are both creative and interesting.

Senior Supt. Biay said that the goal of PNP Pangasinan is to inform, serve and protect the public and emphasized that what they have learned from the lecturers must be applied and wholeheartedly done in their respective offices.

Closing ceremony was awarding of memento and Certificate of Appreciation to the guests lecturers Ms. Vangie DG. Padilla and Mr. Ahikam Pasion for their valued support in sharing their knowledge to make the event successful.

The PNP men and women of Pangasinan are now fully equipped with new ideas and strategies to watch and learn. (PNA)
