LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, March 9 — The provincial board here has requested the national government to provide additional maternity health care kits for the province of Pangasinan.

This was gleaned in provincial resolution no. 1219-2015 on March 9, "earnestly requesting the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to provide additional maternity health care kits to the province of Pangasinan.

Thus, the SP sought the transfer of the P15 million allotted to the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City for such kits to the province.

The resolution cited that under special allotment release order no. G-13-01117, the sum of P15 million has been allotted to R1MC to purchase additional maternity health care kits.

The province requested the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to realign and download the P15 million to the province.

The R1MC has reportedly agreed to the transfer.

As noted by Board Member Liberato Villegas, author of the resolution, "One of the imperative goals of the Province is to provide maternity health care kits to ensure the safety of its constituents especially the mothers and their children and help reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rate."

"However, due to budgetary constraints, only 100 maternity health care kits have been bought and distributed in the province, thus the need for such request," he said. (PNA)
