Air Asia to open Iloilo to Xiamen, China direct flights next year

ILOILO CITY, Feb 23 — Filipino-Chinese from Iloilo will soon find it easier to travel to china following the announcement of the plan of Air Asia Airlines to open direct flight from the Iloilo International Airport to Xiamen, china last quarter of 2016.

“We know that 80 percent of Chinoys from Iloilo City are from Xiamen, China,” Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said during the recent celebration of the Chinese New Year here.

According to Mayor Mabilog, last month the officers, including the chairman of the airline company, visited his office to inform him of the plan.

The airline company also committed to open direct flights from Iloilo to Incheon, South Korea.

While no time table was announced, Mabilog said that soon Air Asia will also open flights to Manila and other destinations from the Iloilo airport.

Iloilo now has direct flights to Singapore and Hong Kong through the Cebu Pacific Air. (PNA)
