BAGUIO CITY, Feb. 7 — The Baguio City Health Services Office (BCHSO), in coordination with the Department of Health (DOH) Cordillera Regional Office, will conduct a Healthy Heart Advocacy Walk on Feb. 20 at Mt. Cabuyao, Tuba, Benguet.

In an interview on Saturday, City Health Services Officer Rowena Galpo said the endeavor was a response to the call of the World Health Organization (WHO) “challenge to promote an integrated community-based approach to the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases”.

The DOH, earlier, launched the National Healthy Lifestyle Program in all provincial and municipal/city levels, resulting to the planned activity.

Participants, in proper walking attire, need to register at 6 – 7 a.m. at the police station, before the health trek to Mt. Cabuyao.

Pointers and messages from DOH Director Dr. Valeriano Jesus Lopez and Galpo will be given during a short program preceding the walk, as Pastor Walter Joaquin delivers a prayer.

Dr. Zoraida Clavio, Midwife Josie Bay-ed and staff Marieta Joven facilitates the program.

Other agencies, offices and even families and individuals are encouraged to conduct walks, fun runs and fitness programs for the promotion of health within their groups.

The working theme for the Heart and Health Month celebration is, “Alagaan Ang Iyong Puso, Mag-Healthy Lifestyle”, Galpo said.(PNA)
