MANAMA, Feb. 8 — Three policemen were injured on Saturday while conducting duties in Bahrain's capital Manama after they were attacked by an armed group.

"The policemen were extinguishing burning tires on Isa Al Kabeer Road when they were attacked by a group armed with Molotov cocktails," the Capital Governorate Police general director said in a statement.

All the three policemen, including one in serious condition, were referred to hospital for treatment, the official said, adding that an investigation has been launched to identify and arrest those involved.

In the past few weeks, attacks against policemen have increased ahead of the fourth anniversary of the anti-government protests which began in 2011.

The radical online group "The Coalition of February 14" has urged its supporters to take part in strikes starting Feb. 12 to 14, threatening to block roads to prevent people from going to work, asking the public to avoid government transactions, and boycotting ATMs and shopping malls.(PNA/Xinhua)
