Sec. Domingo visits Leon, Iloilo shared service facilities project

ILOILO CITY, Feb. 6 –- Trade Secretary Gregory L. Domingo visited the shared service facilities (SSF) project that was established by the Department of Trade and Industry in partnership with the municipality of Leon, Iloilo, Friday afternoon.

DTI officer-in-charge for Western Visayas Wilhelm M. Malones said that the P1.6-million SSF project was the first to be launched in the region.

DTI extended P900,000 while the LGU shelled out as counterpart P750,000 for the fruit and vegetable processing facilities. It is being managed by the LGU in partnership with the Leon Multipurpose Cooperative.

Malones said that the secretary would like to see how the project is working.

The SSF is a major component of the government’s Micro-Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Development Program that seeks to improve their competitiveness by extending support in terms of machinery, equipment, tools, systems, systems, skills and knowledge.

Domingo was in Iloilo Friday for the grand launching of the Negosyo Center, the second to be opened out of the 100 centers proposed nationwide. (PNA)
