VALLETTA, Feb. 6 — The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) has newly launched the Chinese and Turkish editions of the archipelago's official tourism website –, local nedia reported on Thursday.

The website is now available in 12 languages including Russian and Japanese.

The MTA CEO Paul Bugeja said: "One of our main goals is to reduce seasonality and hence we believe that with the addition of new languages on our portal, we are increasing our target audience from new and emerging markets who are keen to travel during the off-peak season."

He added that the Maltese Islands offer a vast and varied calendar of events which cater to the tastes of different individuals to further encourage tourists to visit the country throughout the year.

The MTA is Malta's tourism industry regulator and motivator as well as the country's brand promoter. Affiliated to Malta Ministry for Tourism, it was formally set up by the Malta Travel and Tourism Service Act (1999).(PNA/Xinhua)
