MANILA, Jan. 28 — The production of stored value (SV) tickets for the Light Rail Transit Line-1 (LRT-1) is currently experiencing a shortage due to a “technical problem”, a transport official said Wednesday.

LRT spokesperson Hernando Cabrera did not identify what caused the technical problem but assured that the shortage was being experienced only by the LRT-1.

Cabrera, meanwhile, expressed hope that the problem will be resolved within the week so that there will be a full production of SV tickets by next week.

SV tickets allow commuters multiple rides with a Last Ride Bonus meaning the ticket is still valid for one more ride even if the remaining balance is less than the minimum fare and at least P0.50.

One ticket is valid for six months from the date of first use and helps save commuters from long ticket queues.

Because of insufficient supply in tickets, commuters have been queuing longer to purchase single journey tickets, instead. (PNA)
