UAE offers condolences to Saudi on death of King

DUBAI, Jan. 25 — The United Arab Emirates vice president, prime minister and ruler of Dubai were traveling to Riyadh on Saturday to offer condolences on the death of king Abdullah who passed away on Friday.

The two UAE politicians will also offer congratulations to the new custodian of the two holy mosques, UAE state news agency WAM reported.

The UAE and Saudi Arabia, two major oil suppliers, are close allies and key Western allies in the Middle East.

UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed ordered on Friday a three-day mourning period for his country on the occasion of the late king Abdullah's demise.(PNA/Xinhua)
